How To Hide The System Recovery Drive Partition in Windows 10
The Recovery partition is a special partition on the hard drive that exists on almost all OEM Windows computers. It’s created by the OEM vendors and is used for to keep OS image that these days replaces the recovery discs that used to come with new computers. If you are using an OEM computer, such as ones you bought from Dell, HP, etc., you will have a special partition available on the drive of your new computer.
The Recovery partition allows the user to restore Windows 10 to its original state, as it was when shipped from the factory or shop.
Recovery partition is a special partition on system hard drive and is used to restore the system to factory settings in case of system issues. To protect recovery partition from being changed or deleted, recovery partition usually has no drive letter, and only a Help option is provided in Disk Management.
The recovery partition should be is hidden by default and do not appear in File Explorer. However if you have it visible, here is how you can hide it.
To Hide The System Recovery Drive Partition in Windows 10,
- Open Disk Management, by typing “disk management” in Start menu and selecting “Create and format hard disk partitions” from the list.
- Right-click the recovery partition in Disk Management
- Choose “Change Drive Letter and Paths…” from the context menu.
- In the next dialog, click on the Remove button to remove the assigned drive letter, and then click OK to close it.
That’s all about it.
Now, open File Explorer – you shouldn’t have the recovery partition visible in the This PC folder.
This method reviewed in this post is also applicable to Windows 7, 8.1 and 10. This way, you can ‘hide’ any other partition you do not want to see in File Explorer.
